The 2009 Black Dog!

Things are winding down rapidly! FYI, I will be out at the Hood River Fairgrounds for the duration through the event starting this Saturday morning, 5/30, so don't expect any email responses starting then. Also, if your pre-entry was not received by this Friday (5/29), you will need to pay at the event! You can reach me in the evenings via my cellphone [503.803.7837], but it needs to be important - don't have time to chat - too busy!

Obviously we will again spend the entire week setting up the courses and quite honestly, we have the most fun during that time. If you have spare time and want to join the fun, come on out.

All the routes have been submitted to the landowners, insurance too, we just need to get out and confirm that we can get through our proposed routes and that it's not snowed in (there's plenty of white stuff!.

There's already 160+ pre-entries (no worries about limits, show up anyway), so it should be another banner year for riders too. BMW of N. America will be there with a couple demo bikes (new 450 and a 650 I believe), KTM will be there representing again, but cutbacks have curtailed the 18-wheeler demo truck, plus Beaverton Honda will again be onhand with demo bikes and one of the head cheeses from Beta.

It promises to be another epic year! See ya there!

Question for the veteran Black Doggers: It's our first time for this one. I'm the vicarious rider of the duo and while he's off galavantin' I'll have the day to play back in camp or ? Just wondering if there are a fair number of us who hold down the camp fort, or do most non-dirteater folks head out to roam around a bit during the day. I DO, in fact Love 2 Roam so that's always a good possibility for me. Of course, it could be that there aren't that many nonriders who make the trip! We just finished SheetIron a couple weeks ago and I had a blast in Mendocino and Ft. Bragg while the riders were mushing their way from the No. Cal coast back to Stonyford. Looking forward to meeting some of you!~

Thanks for the reply, Tom!

Look forward to meeting you and others. We'll be in my white Sprinter-mobile (WA plates) towing Clint's trailer (CA plates) with a KLR650.

Oh yes, we love the Hood River area. Did the Mt. Hood RR train this past Spring and had a ball.

Typically, do you find that there are a few nonrider people that come and hang in the camp area during the day? Head out to explore? It's all fine with me. I'm a happy camper just about anywhere doing just about anything! If you need some help with the organizing activities, we're happy to pitch in also. We know how very much work is involved in getting these things read for everyone to enjoy.

Yoo_hoo...
I have it on good authority from Her Majesty the Queen of England that Leslie and Daren from MI6, and also of the KLR motorcycling variety will be attending the said event in the locale of the Mountain that is named Mt Hood within Orygun. Good speed to you all and tootle pip, as we like to say over here with tea and crumpets within Windsor Castle.

PS Watch that Lsvens bloke. He tends to not know his limits of “fun juice” and has been observed from our space satellite to have head butted a KLR sidecar outfit on the 2008 event on more than one occasion!
Please monitor his consumption on the 2009 event post riding.
Best regards…

Lsvens will be showing up on Friday to get the party started Q informs me….Good Lordy Lord! Watch out for #44
